TTOC at Cook Elementary School

Image
The picture shows a piece of paper from a Grade 6 class at Cook Elementary School, where I did my TTOC. The teacher wrote down all the students' birthdays. I believe this is a powerful method to help students feel safe and like they belong in the class.

On the first Thursday of CFE, we participated in an elementary track meet. I measured students' softball throws and recorded the top eight results.

Volunteer with Aunt Leah's Trees

Image
Volunteering at Aunt Leah’s Trees has been an enriching experience that has broadened my perspective as a new teacher. Assisting customers in selecting their perfect Christmas tree has honed my communication skills and patience, qualities that are essential in teaching. Explaining the benefits of each tree and Aunt Leah’s mission has deepened my ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner. Unloading and organizing trees has taught me the importance of physical labor and meticulous organization, reminding me that every task, no matter how small, contributes to the bigger picture. Wrapping trees, sawing trunks, and securing trees to vehicles has instilled in me a sense of responsibility and attentiveness to detail. Overall, this volunteer experience has not only strengthened my connection with the community but also enhanced my skills as an educator.
